Why didnt they mention that Magellan was murdered and eaten in the Philippines and never actually made it ALL THE WAY AROUND! (Im not sure if he was eaten acutally, just sounded good) Probably about Aliens I know that the government has them but they wont tell us because they know that people will tottally freak out.... Sept 11 was the "perfect opportunity" for Bush to get his long planned agenda through. The two versions of American history are very very different. I am not saying this is any different for any other country, i have no delusions of virtue as far as British history is concerned: we've all had our historical fuckups, like i have said. On the subject of vietnam, i said it was an american defeat, and it was. simple as that. you failed to achive your objectives, ie stopping the spread of communism to the South, and later establishing 'democracy' in the North. This did not happen as Vietnam became a unified communist state shortly after you guys left. you cannot deny that. Like you have done, most people hide behind the numbers of casualties, or say 'but we won every firefight.' the former is irrelevent, as at the end of the day, 58 000 americans lost their lives; and the latter is not true, as many a time the US army found itself needing assistance and calling in airstrikes. Also, several bases were totally overrun during the Tet offensive, although, respect to you guys, you did get that back under 'control.' To say that if you really wanted to defeat the vietnamese you would have nuked them is also untrue. for a start, you DID want to defeat them, because who the hell invades another country for the soul purpose of loosing? also, nukung them would only start WWIII, as the itchy-trigger-fingered Russians and Chinese would have jumped right on the Nuclear band-wagon. Wacky is the classic example of the 'new' generation of moron that has grown up around the advent of the internet. He cannot make any concise or clear point, so resorts to the schoolyard and just throws his toys out of the pram. What is inevitable, is that his like, are becoming adominant feature of this site. His views are skewed by feeling of inadequacy and a feeling of powerlessness. His future is bleak to say the least, but we must pity him and people of his ilk. Remember, he will probably be serving your next fast food burger. As to the initial question, what is the biggest lie in American history, look at any television in any US home and you will see that the cathode ray nipple, is what is making the likes of Wacky. Adolf Hitler said it best, the bigger the lie the more people will believe it. When Wacky and his fellow McDonalds crew members are fed a diet of untruths and skewed (mostly right wing) views, and noone is there to balance and to question the propaganda fed to them, we cannot be too surprised when we hear the same 'America is Great' mantra, spewing from unquestioning lips. What is becoming worrying, the insidious nature of the American system is oozing into British politics. We have the advantage of having many generations who have learned to question our politicians, and to protest. From my view of the average American, they seem content to believe everything they are told. The words God Bless America, need to be altered slightly to God Save America, else it be dragged down a fundamentalist Christian path, which in itself is extreme.

WWII: We tied everything we could to avoid war, but Hitler was determined to start one. he was terrified of British power, and asked for peace after Dunkirk, and dispared after the Battle of Britain. our navy thrashed theirs in every engagement. "so korea was a defeat now?" yes, Korea was a defeat. the UN invaded north of the 38th parallel, and were nailed by the chinese. the war did not conclude, but it was quite clear the the Allied would have been pushed off the peninsular if the war had continued. "Saddam was trying to cut deals to the very end until US soldiers invaded the country." yes, but he refused to bow to american pressure. "Then he went and hid in his hole." well, what would you do? the point was not that he was beaten, merely that American dimplomatic pressure was not great enough, and he did not fear their wrath. "And if you had said that to a saddam of 100 years ago he would more likely say "go fuck yourselves limeys, you couldn't even beat a small brood of poorly armed American civilians. " actually, the British weilded much more power than you say. we annexed territories without fights most of the time, and we shamelessly bullied most of the world to do our will. the American war of independance was not a military defeat. we abandoned the colonies, because of a war in France, and because they were becoming a financial burden rather than a colonial blessing. most of the actual battles were won by the British redcoats, so to say that we were trashed by poorly armed peasants is rubbish. this said, a dimplomatic defeat is as bad a a military defeat, and we were beaten. i do stand by my claim that we did, at the height of our power, carry more political clout that the americans have ever done. wtf... a) if u dont like america suck my dick... b)DIE Hoorah go kill the enemy for free college money!

Look at the Aussies, they are doing better than the Brits and they have a much smaller population. Tell me are the British newspapers screaming that the Aussies are all doped up or is that only reseverd for the US. There are many athletes from all over the world the train and live in the US and will go and compete and win medals for their own country. Maybe the Brits should look a little closer to home and realize they don't provide their athletes with the same facilities, training and funding as other countries do. P.S. I don't mean to come off sounding like I disrespect the UK. But I am tired of hearing the only reason the US does well is because of drugs. There will always be a country that domintates in the medals. I suppose we'll eventually be bitching about the Chinese.
