^ If you look for the definition, God is defined in almost the same terms in all the major religions, except Hinduism where there are many variations. Each of the major monotheistic world religions worships a Supreme Being, who is the sole god of the universe, the maker of all things, omniscient and all-powerful. God is also good. According to the Qurʾān, Allah is the creator and judge of humankind, omnipotent, compassionate, and merciful. The definition is all more the same. I my case 'Where there is God', defined ............. role model. By this you mean a God who we can look up to when we face any adversity or we just pray that we don't face any. A criminal looks up to God for forgiveness because God is fatherly, unconditionally loving, tolerant and likewise a good person looks up to God to thank for his happiness, he doesn't face any adversity or God would be there for him if he faces any. Since existence or non existence of God is beyond proof, how about we ask what is God? A faith, a belief or may be a hope. As an atheist, I believe this is the duty of a believer to prove the existence of God and not for an atheist to prove the non existence. Since a believer can't prove the existence of God, I would call this faith, belief, hope etc. an illusion. So would you prefer to live in a world where there is this false illusion or there is no such illusion. Hope I didn't mess it up

Well, that depends on a couple factors. Do you mean God as a tangable authoritive presence in a perfected world? Or a world of blind faith adherency with orders of diffuse beliefs (chaos)?

How is God to be defined, since there are so many variations describing His character, His attributes and His relationship with humanity, from culture to culture, between denominations and personal interpretations and
convictions?

Who's God? Some beliefs are hardliner and extreme while others are liberal and permissive, so who's God do you speak of?

I my case 'Where there is God', defined as the model for advancing humanity, a unified psychology, a global consciousness, and a compassionate, fatherly, unconditionally loving, tolerant, understanding human weakness, forgiving, merciful, passive (unaggressive), peace seeking, self sacrificing, charitable, judicious, humble, truthful, honorable, etc...., role model.

You get the picture? I know, Idealistic, but one day.
