Voted : I cut them out myself, I know how to operate a small scissors.
I did my own on my knee when I was 9 and where my appendix used to be when I was 13. Be careful, I must warn you... It tickles.

it drives me up the wall seeing that thread poking out from the skin. as soon as I heal, I pull them out myself. Gotta wait until you are completely healed though, otherwise you may have your organ spill out
Voted : I let the doctors do it, scissors require a 8 year med. degree.
If they're not self-disolving...you let the Doctor do it!
I used to let the doctor do it, but now if I ever needed removed, I would probably do myself or have one of my classmates do it for me.

I leave the doctoring to the guys with the doctorates.

Do it myself. I haven't had a cast since I was too little to choose, but I think now I would probably remove that myself as well. I'm not entirely sure how hard they are though.

I'd rather go ahead and let the doctor do it. He's the doctor for a reason and he could very well spot something that my untrained eye missed. Though I have pulled out self-disolving stitches in my mouth before when they didn't completely come out. They just partially dissolved and were left hanging in my mouth, annoying the hell out of me.
