Voted : Stormy Monday Blues ~ Rotary Connection
Has anyone here ever heard this song before?
Voted : Wild Women Don't Get the Blues ~ Ida Cox (1920's)
Here are the cool lyrics:

Well, I hear you women talkin' 'bout your monkey men,
About yo' no 'count husbands and their triflin' friends.
Peaceful women sit around all day and moan.
They're wonderin' why their wanderin' papas don't come home.
But wild women don't worry, wild women never get the blues.

Well, if you got a man, don't be on the square,
'Cause if you do, he'll have a woman everywhere.
I nevcr have been known to treat no one man right.
I keeps 'em workin' hard both the day and night.
'Cause wild women don't worry, wild women never get the blues.

Well, I got a dlsposition, got a way of my own,
If you don't like it, baby, you can find another home.
I get full of good liquor, walk the streets at night,
Come home and puts my man out if he don't do right.
'Cause wild women don't worry, wild women never get the blues.

Well I got a disposition, got a way of my own
If you don't like it, baby, you can find another home.
i get full of Courvolsier walk the streets at night,
Come home and puts my man out if he don't get it up right.
'Cause wild women don't worry, wild women never get the blues.

Well, you never get nothin' by bein' an angel child
You better change your ways, and then you'll get real wild.
I'm gonna tell you somethin' wouldn't tell you no lie.
Wild women are the only kind that really get by.
'Cause wild women don't worry, wild women never get the blues.

Voted : Dyin' Crap Shooters Blues - Blind Willie Mctell
Little Jesse was a gambler, night and day
He used crooked cards and dice
Sinful guy, good hearted but had no soul
Heart was hard and cold like ice
Jesse was a wild reckless gambler
Won a gang of change
Although' a many gambler's heart he left in pain
Began to spend all his money
Began to be blue, sad and all alone
And his heart had even turned to stone
Police walked up and shot my friend Jesse down
Said boys I got to die today
He had a gang of crapshooters and gamblers at his bedside
Here are the words he had to say
Guess I ought to know
How I wants to go
(How you wanna go, Jesse?)
I want eight crapshooters to be my pallbearers
Let 'em be veiled down in black
I want nine men going to the graveyard,
But only eight men comin' back
I want a gang of gamblers gathered 'round my coffin-side
Crooked card printed on my hearse
Don't say the crapshooters'll never grieve over me
My life been a doggone curse
Send poker players to the graveyard
Dig my grave with the ace of spades
I want twelve polices in my funeral march
High sheriff playin' blackjack, leadin' the parade
I want the judge and solic'ter who jailed me 14 times
Put a pair of dice in my shoes
Let a deck of cards be my tombstone
I got the dyin' crapshooter's blues
Sixteen real good crapshooters
Sixteen bootleggers to sing a song
Sixteen racket men gamblin'
And a couple to tend bar while I'm rollin' along
He wanted 22 women outta the Hampton Hotel
26 off-a South Bell
29 women outta North Atlanta
Know little Jesse didn't pass out so swell
His head was achin', heart was thumpin'
Little Jesse went to hell bouncin' and jumpin'
Folks, don't be standin' around ole Jesse cryin'
He wants everybody to dance the Charleston whilst he dyin'
One foot up, a toenail dragging
Throw my buddy Jesse in the hoodoo wagon
Come here mama with that can of booze
I got the dyin crapshooter's blues, checkin' out
With the dyin' crapshooter's blues.
Bob Dylan was right, nobody ever sang the blues like Blind Willie Mctell.
This could be a really long list. There are thousands of songs with the word blues in the title from just the 1920s and 30s alone.

Voted : Blue Christmas - Porky Pig (for one)
excuse me while i cry for a while
Voted : Deep Elem Blues
traditional blues - I'm only familiar with the Grateful Dead version but supposedly it dates to the early 30's

When you go in Deep Elem, to have a little fun
You better have your fifteen dollars when that policeman comes
Oh sweet mama, daddy's got them Deep Elem blues

Once I had a sweetheart, who meant the world to me
But she hung around Deep Elem, now she ain't what she used to be
Oh sweet mama, daddy's got them Deep Elem blues
Oh sweet mama, daddy's got them Deep Elem blues

When you go down in Deep Elem, keep your money in your shoes
'Cause the women in Deep Elem's got the Deep Elem blues
Oh sweet mama, daddy's got them Deep Elem blues

When you go down in Deep Elem, keep your money in your pants
'Cause the redheads in Deep Elem never give a man a chance
Oh sweet mama, daddy's got them Deep Elem blues
Oh sweet mama, daddy's got them Deep Elem blues

Once I knew a preacher, preached the bible through and through
But he went down in Deep Elem, now his preaching days are through
Oh sweet mama, daddy's got them Deep Elem blues

When you go down in Deep Elem, keep your money in your socks
'Cause the women in Deep Elem will throw you on the rocks
Oh sweet mama, daddy's got them Deep Elem blues
Oh sweet mama, daddy's got them Deep Elem blues

^Hi Lightreaper! Yeah, Deep Elem Blues is a good one, and it does date to the early 30s (originally done, I think, by a group called The Shelton Brothers). There's a song called "The Georgia Black Bottom" by The Georgia Crackers that was recorded in 1927 that's basically the same song though (almost identical except the words "Black Bottom" are used in place of the words "Deep Elem"). Deep Elem apparently refers to Elm Street in Dallas Texas - which was the red light district in those days. Not sure what or where Black Bottom was, but it seems to have been the same kind of neighborhood.
^^^^^Runs With Scissors. I've never heard of Rotary Connection, but I have heard Stormy Monday Blues by T-Bone Walker.
Voted : Killing Time In The Blue Shadows
From an odd but entertaining (IMO) movie called "Streets of Fire" with Michael pare and Diane Lane. The song itself was done by Jason and the Scorchers.
