I mean, if you pray to him/her, do you trust that he will answer your prayers?

Right now I'm going through a crisis in my life and I would like to pray to a trusted God. But I have found that my prayers have a 50-50 chance of being answered, which seems like when you wish upon a star.

Is it the comforting act of praying that makes you think you can trust God? Do you trust him/her?

Yes, I do.
No, I don't.
I will explain below, in the comments section.

I accidentally pushed the Adult ballot button for this one. I couldn't find how to re-classify it, so it appears in the Adult section too.

Prayers are answered, just not always in the way you want. The act of prayer is comforting. It also can reduce blood pressure and get you out of the stress for a few moments. He likes to hear from strangers, btw.

I'm no stranger, FF. In spite of my dislike of formal religion, I pray all the time. It's something deeply ingrained, probably from earliest childhood. Go figure (I can't).

It faith helps you, then go for it.

I personally feel the whole god thing is a hoax, and indoctrination is hard to avoid in your youth.

I haven't pray in a while. I don't know why...
But I know that when I was praying, my prayers were answered. Sometimes it seemed a little too easy: put one prayer in, got one acomplished wish back.

Wish I could offer you some comfort in this, lady, but I begin praying and end up cursing.

I wish I could, it's such a great idea. But look at this world, look at what people are capable of.. and WHO is gonna stop us from killing ourselves?

what is Prayer. Prayer is a petition before God it is having the faith to know that we can't do any thing about the situation that we are in. It is asking God to have his way in our lives and then giving it to him completely. the problem comes when we ask with a certain answer in mind and wanting God to do it our way. I have come to realize that God knows all. if I want to please him I must be willing to trust him. to trust him is an act of faith. sorry there is no other way to put it but it is faith, faith that God knows what it is we need not what we want. we may only need a spot under a tree but may want a mansion. we need to keep in mind that God wants us to Give him Glory and Honor. if what we are asking will not do that then Guess what we won't get it. either way hang in there and hope things work out I will keep you in my prayers. Mojo I hope this helps
